Reading Groups

Themes become communities.

Reading groups and meetings are one of the main ways STS-IN members engage each other and build a shared intellectual rhythm around significant writing in the field.

Founding structure

The four thematic groups that launched the format.

At the inaugural STS India Network workshop in December 2023, the network identified four themes to kick off reading groups in 2024. The groups remain open, evolving spaces for reading, discussion, and collective thinking.

These meetings are open to all, readings are identified by the groups themselves, and the format has been running on a fortnightly cycle across the four themes.

The structure is meant to keep evolving. The network uses these spaces to identify material to read, discuss, and think with in common, while also feeding later writing and resource-building.
